Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of production from an Islamic perspective and analyze its implications for managing waste generated from production activities. The method employed is a literature review by exploring various references related to Islamic economics, production ethics, as well as the concept of waste and its environmental impacts. The findings reveal that production in Islam is not merely profit-oriented but must also be grounded in the principles of tawhid, humanity, justice, and freedom. Islam emphasizes the balance between fulfilling human needs and preserving the environment as part of the maqasid al-shariah, particularly in the aspect of hifdzul bi’ah (environmental preservation). Waste, as a consequence of production activities, has negative impacts on health, ecosystems, and sustainability if not properly managed. The analysis indicates that the application of Islamic production ethics requires producers to take responsibility for waste management through the use of environmentally friendly technologies, efficiency principles, and innovation in reusing production residues. Thus, the concept of production in Islam not only regulates the process of producing goods and services but also highlights the importance of harmonizing economic activities, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability. The study concludes that waste management is an integral part of Islamic production ethics, and the implementation of shariah values can provide solutions to minimize environmental degradation while fostering sustainable development.
