Peningkatan Kemampuan Bahasa Inggris Melalui Pelatihan TOEFL Berbasis ICT

Abstract

English proficiency, particularly in preparing for the TOEFL test, has become one of the essential competencies for university students in the era of globalization. However, based on observations conducted by the head of the program implementation team at Universitas dr. Soebandi, most students from various study programs still face difficulties and are not familiar with TOEFL materials and test-taking strategies. This condition has resulted in low TOEFL achievement scores among students, where in 2024 only around 10% of students obtained scores above 450. This issue occurs because the majority of students do not come from academic fields that focus on English, particularly TOEFL learning. Therefore, this program aims to improve students’ understanding and abilities in taking the TOEFL test through Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-based training.

The implementation methods of the program include socialization sessions, intensive TOEFL training, digital-based practice exercises, and evaluation of learning outcomes. The use of ICT media is expected to enhance learning effectiveness, facilitate access to learning materials, and increase participants’ motivation in studying TOEFL. The targeted outputs of this program are the publication of a scientific article in an ISSN-indexed journal and a video documenting the implementation of the program activities. Through this program, it is expected that students’ TOEFL abilities will improve, thereby supporting both their academic needs and competitiveness in the job market.
