Analisis Etika Bisnis Islam terhadap Praktik PayLater di Era Digital
Keywords:
Digital Era; Islamic Business; PaylaterAbstract
This study focuses on evaluating the implementation of PayLater services, specifically Shopee PayLater, through a review of Islamic business ethics in the digital age. The applied method is descriptive qualitative research with a literature study approach, which examines the concept of the qardh contract, the principles of prohibition of usury and gharar, and related fatwas of the DSN-MUI. The research findings indicate that in terms of the pillars and conditions of the qardh contract, such as the existence of aqid, the object of debt, and shigat, the Shopee PayLater mechanism has met these criteria. However, this practice is contrary to sharia principles due to the addition of a fixed fee (2.95% per month) and late fees (5% per month) which fall into the category of usury. Furthermore, from a social perspective, this service encourages consumer habits and spontaneous purchases that can have negative psychological effects. This study concludes that although technically it can facilitate transactions, Shopee PayLater does not fully comply with Islamic business ethics due to the presence of usury elements in it.
