Abstract

The development of the cosmetics industry in Indonesia has experienced significant progress, but it is also accompanied by the emergence of illegal cosmetic products that have the potential to harm consumer health. This research aims to analyze how Islamic business ethics can be applied in addressing the issue of illegal cosmetics and encouraging business actors to comply with regulations and maintain integrity in business. A case study of illegal cosmetic products recalled by BPOM shows that illegal cosmetic business practices not only violate the principles of Islamic business ethics but also can directly harm consumers and create a negative impact on the overall image of the cosmetics industry. This research uses qualitative analysis methods to identify violations of Islamic business ethics principles in the practice of selling illegal cosmetics and provide solution recommendations based on the perspective of Islamic business ethics. The results of this research indicate that the application of Islamic business ethics is very important in creating a healthier and safer business environment for consumers. Thus, this research can contribute to the development of Islamic business ethics in the cosmetics industry in Indonesia.
