Abstract

Indonesia, which has the largest Muslim population in the world, has great potential to advance the halal food industry. The high domestic and global demand for halal products, as well as its rich natural resources, promise significant economic growth. However, to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage, the application of Islamic principles is essential. This study discusses strategies to optimize the potential of Indonesia's halal food industry by applying Islamic principles, such as justice, sustainability, and benefit. The strategies discussed include efforts to increase productivity and competitiveness through the development of competent human resources, strengthening regulations and policies, developing halal infrastructure and supply chains, and strengthening halal brands and awareness. Optimizing the halal industry with sharia principles is projected to increase competitiveness, contribute to sustainable economic development, and strengthen Indonesia's identity as a Muslim country that upholds halal values.
