The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has given rise to the phenomenon of deepfakes techniques for manipulating video, audio, and images to create highly convincing fake content. This phenomenon poses a serious threat to information integrity, individual honor, and social order. This article examines the deepfake phenomenon through a thematic exegesis (maudhū'ī) approach, focusing on two relevant Quranic concepts: qawl al-zūr (false speech) and ifk (fabricated falsehood). The study employs a qualitative literature-based methodology, utilizing primary Quranic verses alongside classical and contemporary exegetical texts, supported by recent academic journal studies. The findings indicate that deepfakes substantially fall under the categories of qawl al-zūr and ifk practices prohibited by the Quran and conflict with the principles of tabayyun (verification), trustworthiness regarding information, and the preservation of honor (hifzh al-'irdh). This article contributes to the development of Islamic ethics in the digital era.
